The journal International Shipbuilding Progress (ISP) was founded in 1954. Each year two issues appear (in March and September). Publications submitted to ISP should describe scientific work of high international standards, advancing subjects related to the field of Marine Technology, such as:
- Concept development
- General design of ships and offshore objects
- Ship and offshore structural design
- Hydro-mechanics and -dynamics
- Maritime engineering and machinery systems
- Production processes of all types of ships and other objects intended for marine use
- Production technology and material science
- Shipping science, economics, and all directly related subjects
- Ship operations
- Offshore and ocean engineering in relation to the marine environment
- Marine safety
- Efficiency, lifecycle, and environment
- Ice-related aspects for ships and offshore objects.
The contents of the papers may be of a fundamental or of an applied scientific nature and must be of the highest novelty and rigor.

Abstract: Full scale observations were made on board of 243 Dutch merchant ships from 1959 till 1964. This paper presents the results of the analysis of ship’s environmental conditions and their behaviour and performance at sea. The data on the state of the sea are compared with those collected by other investigators in order to judge their value and to determine their accuracy. This is necessary in view of the further analysis of voluntary speed reduction and course change in different sea conditions and at different ship headings. The reasons reported by nautical officers when taking these measures are also …presented. A detailed analysis of the behaviour and performance of the Victory ships at sea is carried out. Theoretical calculations are used to correlate the sustained sea speed with the probability of deck wetness or the probability that slamming occurs. Show more

Abstract: Static- and forced oscillation tests with a ground effect machine model were performed (in cooperation with the Shipbuilding Laboratory – Delft) above ground without forward velocity and above water with forward velocity. The main object of the investigations was to study the use of this experimental method for ground effect machine models. The coefficients of the equations of motion could be determined from the results of the tests. The flying height and trim angle in the equilibrium motion were calculated from the static coefficients. The dynamic stability roots, the natural frequencies and damping ratios of the model …were obtained by solving the homogeneous equations of motion. Show more
