Abstract: The modeling of polydispersed bubbly flows in practical applications requires the resolution of large systems of equations with multiple unknowns. Since the solution to this problem lives in a four dimensional space the number of unknowns increases quickly with finer discretizations. In addition, the problem is highly non-linear, strongly coupled and stiff. In this work a series of novel ideas to solve these issues in a robust and efficient manner is presented. Further, a simulation of the bubbly flow around a real self-propelled ship where the propellers are fully discretized is performed. This highly demanding computation serves as a test for the ideas presented in this work. Comparisons with available experimental data are shown.
