On the longitudinal reduction factor for the added mass of vibrating ships with rectangular cross-section¹²

Abstract: The added mass of vertically vibrating ships with rectangular cross-sections is discussed. The ship is approximated by a cylinder with a rectangular cross-section. Water motions in the direction of the axis of the cylinder are taken into account. The effect of gravity is neglected.
