Abstract: The possibility of using normal rowing as the power system for a hydrofoil vessel has been investigated and shown to be feasible for a championship level oarsman using experimental data for the hydrofoil configuration measured in a re-circulating water channel. For an average oarsman however it was shown that foilborne motion was only just possible.
