Abstract: In part I (International Shipbuilding Progress., Vol. 15, No. 168, Aug., 1968), results of the experiments which had been conducted in restricted waters in order to investigate the effect of finite water depth and finite channel width on the coefficients of the equations of motion, were reported. Furthermore, the course stability of a ship in restricted waters was examined. In this part, the manoeuvrability in restricted waters will be shown in more detail. In chapter I, it will be examined whether a directionally unstable ship can be stabilized in narrow channel by an application of the automatic steering or not, and what kind of control is the most suitable. In chapter II, the controllability of a ship under the effect of wind will be investigated taking into account the variation of the hydrodynamic coefficients in the equations of motion due to the shallow water effect.
