Abstract: For the determination of its natural frequencies a double bottom is considered to be a sandwich plate. The equation of motion perpendicular to the plane of the sandwich plate is derived and solved by substitution of a double Fourier series for the vertical displacement. The natural frequencies corresponding with the appropriate boundary conditions are obtained from this solution, together with the normal mode patterns.
