The journal International Shipbuilding Progress (ISP) was founded in 1954. Each year two issues appear (in March and September). Publications submitted to ISP should describe scientific work of high international standards, advancing subjects related to the field of Marine Technology, such as:
- Concept development
- General design of ships and offshore objects
- Ship and offshore structural design
- Hydro-mechanics and -dynamics
- Maritime engineering and machinery systems
- Production processes of all types of ships and other objects intended for marine use
- Production technology and material science
- Shipping science, economics, and all directly related subjects
- Ship operations
- Offshore and ocean engineering in relation to the marine environment
- Marine safety
- Efficiency, lifecycle, and environment
- Ice-related aspects for ships and offshore objects.
The contents of the papers may be of a fundamental or of an applied scientific nature and must be of the highest novelty and rigor.

Abstract: A relation is found for the pressure induced on a ship’s hull by a cavitating propeller. The contributions in the pressure are due to sheet cavitation, blade-thickness and loading. To calculate the effect of sheet cavitation the cavity geometry must be known. The geometry is found with help of the so-called free streamline theory. The pressure field due to blade-thickness and loading is obtained in a usual way.

Abstract: On the basis of the results from previously performed model tests concerning the interaction between ship and propeller at extreme propeller loads, an analysis of the influence of the different parameters were carried out with regard to the stopping distance of the ship. In addition a comparison of the stopping distance has been made between types of ships most commonly in use today.

Abstract: The conception of computer programs for the integrated hull structure analysis system of a Classification Society requires a particular philosophy. Some ideas on the subject are developed by the author, who takes the example of the buckling studies at Bureau Veritas. Using an analytical method of resolution, we have developed a post processor more specialized and efficient than the previously used finite element program. The first curves and deflection surfaces obtained by this method are analysed.
