Abstract: In this paper, various effective and oscillatory torque components in a line-start permanent magnet (LSPM) motor are analyzed using the principle of superposition through the analytic approach with an equivalent circuit. According to the independent sources, in the asynchronous speed the induced rotor current and braking stator current are derived by using the DQ equivalent circuit and Laplace transformation. Then, two effective components and three oscillatory components of torque are calculated quantitatively by using the …analytic torque equations. Finally, to check usefulness of the proposed method, the current and torque characteristics are compared with finite element analysis and measurement results for various speeds. Show more

Abstract: This paper presents the design and analysis of a slotless tubular linear actuator for the ecopedal system of a vehicle. To achieve high fuel efficiency in a vehicle, the electric actuator produces a counter force to the vehicle's pedal when pressed. The actuator requires a high level of performance, such as a high force density and low detent force. In this study, the design of the slotless tubular linear actuator was optimized to satisfy these requirements. …The finite element method was used to analyze the actuator's electromagnetic properties, and the viability of the design result was verified experimentally. Abstract: The approximate optimization based on a response surface modeling has been applied to the optimum design for obtaining flat torque of switched reluctance motor, which has high fluctuating torque due to its inherent salient structure. In order to reduce the fluctuating torque ripple causing noise and vibration, an optimization design technique has been introduced and investigated to find geometric and electric variables by means of combining finite element analysis considering driving circuits and response surface …modeling. In this research an effective optimization method based on a response surface modeling has been used to overcome the modeling noise in formulating an objective and constraint and the cumulative numerical inaccuracy. Abstract: The stray losses in tank walls, yoke clamps, tensile plate of core limb and other electrically conductive construction parts of a transformer are computed using three-dimensional time harmonic finite element method. The distributions of losses in the construction parts are then analyzed, and the measures of controlling and reducing stray losses were discussed. The different types of magnetic shields are investigated to reduce the eddy current loss in the tank wall and the yoke clamps. Influence …of both shielding types and dimensional parameters of a specific shield on the stray losses is discussed to fascinate engineering applications. Show more

Abstract: This paper suggests a hybrid exited Flux Switching Permanent Magnet (FSPM) motor which has flux control characteristics. First of all, the structure of FSPM with flux control characteristics is suggested and the basic principle of how it works is explained. Then, a 2D model considering an overhang is suggested in order to extract the parameters of the motor and using this, counter back-emf and inductance are calculated. Lastly, the characteristics were analyzed using voltage equation when …operating flux control. Show more

Abstract: This paper proposes a new structure of switched reluctance generator with dual stator (DSRG) for wind turbine application. It is conducive for wind turbine system to reduce the size and weight of nacelle. Advanced performance of DSRG can be verified by comparing with general structure of prototype SRG whose performance have been verified by result from several simulations and experimental measurement. To compare two types of SRG, experiment at same condition (3 kW 12/16 SRG with …pole pitch of stator, rotor, and other dimensions) for accuracy of SRG's performance. As a result, we can reduce the weight and stack length at the same performance using DSRG so that compactness is available. In further study, Manufacture of DSRG will study and the effect of vibration and noise also study either for its structure. Show more

Abstract: The paper presents a study on the design and analysis of a sub-fractional slot concentrated winding brushless direct current motor (BLDCM) with unequal tooth widths for a light electric vehicle application. This kind of brushless surface permanent magnet (SPM) motor is equipped with easy-to-manufacture features which are crucial for the electrical machinery market, especially for electric motors used in electric vehicles. The structure also responds quite effectively to field weakening operation, because of its …inherent higher inductance value.
