Abstract: A 3-D Magnetohydrodynamic calculation in consideration of mold heat transfer is developed to obtain the precise mold thermal flux and the mold design. By means of modeling the heat transfer coefficient between the solidified steel and the copper mold in casting direction distribution, the temperature distribution in the mold is in good agreement with the operating data. The mold temperature at the meniscus position is higher than the others. From the cross section temperature at the …mold, the corner is higher than the center position. Show more

Abstract: Most of the materials used in practice show degradation due to fatigue, i.e. cyclic loading. Very often other degradation mechanisms like corrosion and in the high temperature regime also creep are superimposed. In the primary circuit of nuclear power plants the material is additionally exposed to neutron irradiation. According to the licensing conditions the main focus is on the pressure vessel material. The contribution describes measurement results collected at surveillance programme specimen of different …nuclear power plants in different European countries. The set of Charpy specimen was measured in the hot cell of the research reactor in Petten in the Netherlands. Electromagnetic non-destructive testing techniques were applied for characterization. Abstract: This paper proposes a novel scheme of thin steel plate levitation, which uses real-time finite elements calculation. The number of gap sensors is reduced using the proposed method. The simulation of the vibration, which occurs in the steel plate, shows the possibility of real-time installation. Then, the estimated gap length of the electromagnet in the one-end fixed system is compared to the experimental results. In spite of the difference in amplitude, the correspondence of the phase …of the vibration clearly shows the possibility and the feasibility of the proposed system. Then, the experiment of the vibration control showed that a position could be estimated with FEM. Show more

Abstract: An excitation of waveguide SH acoustic modes is studied for a layer piezoelectrically coupled with a substrate through a narrow gap. The idea of the method is based on a resonance reflection of plane waves occurring in the substrate close to the tracing speeds of the spectrum of waveguide SH eigenwaves in the layer. Such reflections in the substrate are accompanied by the waveguide components in the layer with rather large amplitudes proportional to the inverse …coefficient of electro-mechanical coupling. The shape of resonant peaks of excitation is theoretically studied. The physical limitations for the parameters of resonance are discussed. Show more
