Abstract: Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are multi-hop wireless networks where data sent by source can be delivered through one or more intermediate nodes until reaching destination. In addition, nodes in these networks are free to move in any direction with various movement speeds and consequently form the network topology in an unpredicted manner. Due to this dynamic topology characteristic, the Local Information No Topology (LINT) heuristic has been proposed and received lots of attentions from many researchers in controlling network topology in these networks. In this work, extensive experiments are conducted to investigate the performance of LINT in various scenarios (i.e. load-, speed- and density-varying environments). Moreover, energy consumption in various operating states is also analysed in addition to network performance to investigate the efficiency and the effectiveness of LINT.
