Abstract: Several types of small spiral coils were made as receiver coils for wireless power-transmission to the implantable medical devices. The electrical characteristics of the coils were tested in the air and the physiological saline solution under the similar ionic condition to the body fluid. Both of the effective inductance and the effective loss were increased in the saline in the range of tested frequency. In the saline, relationship between the operating frequency and the effective inductance closely fitted to the equation curve derived from a simple circuit model that includes a stray capacitance component. The values of capacitance estimated from the curve fittings were proportional to the surface area of the coil.
