Abstract: To develop an efficient robust optimal method for numerical solutions of inverse problems, a metaheuristic based on ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithms is proposed. In accordance to robust design specifications, the algorithm iterative procedures are redesigned, and the methodology and mechanism for reducing the heavy computational burdens associated with robust performance computations are introduced. To validate the feasibility and showcase the merits, of the proposed method, it is used to solve an engineering inverse problem with promising results.
