Abstract: The validity of a new eddy-current-based damage detection technique was investigated. The Multi-Frequency Excitation and Spectrogram method (MFES) using Hall element sensor array was employed. Hall sensors positioned between the excitation yoke legs picked up leakage flux density in proportion to the excitation frequency. This new sensor configuration may be effective in the evaluation of magnetic properties such as permeability or conductivity. In order to unveil the phenomenon, finite element analyses are performed.
