Neural networks for environmental data processing: a research project of relevant national interest for the Italian Government

Abstract: A group of Italian researchers in the field of neural processing systems proposed to the Italian government a project in the field of Neural Networks for environmental data processing. The project has been funded, and started to be operative at the beginning of 2001. A major objective of the project is that of focusing the potential of the research group in the field of neural modelling to the problem of environmental management in order to produce, at the end of the project period, powerful prediction tools in environmental applications. Air and electromagnetic pollution together with water resources management are the specific environmental problems to which the predictive neural models will be particularised and applied.
