Abstract: In a visual prosthesis, the visual nervous system of blind people are stimulated electrically in order to reconstruct their sense of sight. However electrical power supply to an internal device is limited. Therefore, it is very important to study efficient electrical stimulation. In our study, various pulse types were applied to the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) to record the neural responses from the visual cortex (V1) of cats. Experimental results revealed that the inversion of polarity of electric current pulse was effective in electrical stimulation to the LGN.
