A Symbolic Approach to Computer-assisted Preference Elicitation

Abstract: The paper deals with the problems of supporting a preferences learning process. It is argued that decision makers while evaluating decision feel more comfortable manipulating graphical symbols rather than textual information. A discussion of the benefits of such a symbolic representation and manipulation is given.
