Abstract: Although a rational diagnosis made by experts is feared by both managers and union delegates, it is extremely useful for sound job redesign especially if human engineering aspects are to be taken into account. This article presen ts three methodologies: – Two grids to rate QWL: · at industrial work stations (LEST), · at clerical work stations (CLERICAL GRID). – ACTIF to guide the design process of EDP specialists. It compares these diagnostic methodologies with others (opinion surveys, etc.) and shows the advantages and disadvantages of each according to management's objectives.
