Abstract: The advent of new technologies and globalization of business environments places new demands on top managements of firms. However, design of organizational structures at the top levels of management is a neglected area in organizational analysis. This paper uses theories of organizational learning to explore ideas about structuring top management teams. Some commonly found top management structures are described, and suggestions are made for creating top management teams that can facilitate strategic decision making.
