Abstract: High-speed DISI injector plays a key role in DISI injector. In order to improve the dynamic response of the DISI injector, a novel dual-coil DISI injector based on vehicle battery-voltage-system was designed. A two stage driving strategy was used to drive the dual-coil injector. The transient electromagnetic FEM (Finite Element Method) model was established based on electromagnetic, mechanical and power losses. The key parameters which directly or indirectly impact on the injector performances were analyzed by simulation, including lines of magnetic flux, magnetic flux density and total loss distribution. Simultaneously, the current loss, eddy current loss and solid loss over …time investigated as well. In order to validate the accuracy of the simulation results, the plunger position over time and shot-to-shot flow rate were measured by the laser displacement sensor and flow rate meter. The results indicated that, the simulation results were good agreement to the experimental results. The simulation and experimental results also proved that the comprehensive performances of novel dual-coil DISI injector better than the single-coil DISI injector, expressed as lower power losses and faster dynamic response. Therefore, it has great potential to applicate on the vehicle at enhancing the fuel economy and reducing emission. Show more

Abstract: The magneto-rheological damper (MRD) has been widely used to suppress shock and vibration, which has strong nonlinearities and electromagnetic interference (EMI) due to the displacement vibration, semi-active control strategy, excitation current and excitation coil. The transmission impedance of excitation coil should be determined and measured to calculate excitation current and design EMI filter, which can improve the MRD control effectiveness and mitigate EMI noises. However, the transmission impedance of excitation coil is active complex impedance, which can’t be determined by traditional passive impedance extraction method. To solve the problem, the transmission impedance model and equivalent circuit of MRD is proposed …and analyzed. Moreover, a novel transmission impedance extraction method is designed to obtain the transmission impedance of excitation coil online. The theoretical and experiment results show that the transmission impedance of three ferrite core with different turns can be determined. The transmission impedance of Lord MRD RD-8040-1 can be obtained by employing the present method, which comply with theoretical results well. The transmission impedance of MRD at characteristic frequency is growing with excitation current increasing, which verify the MRD transmission impedance model and extraction method efficient and effective. Abstract: This paper focuses on finite element based modelling and optimization of synchronous reluctance machines (SynRM). The primary objective of the study was to improve the static torque characteristic of SynRM by appropriate selection of rotor geometry using design of experiments (DOE) by Taguchi optimization method. The preliminary finite element based numerical model of a SynRM was built and parametric analysis of rotor geometry was performed in order to investigate the impact of number of magnetic flux barriers and their position and size on the resulting static torque characteristic. The acquired characteristics were processed by Fourier analysis in order to identify …the content of higher harmonics responsible for the machine torque ripple resulted by each rotor geometry. The processed results were used for smoothing the static torque characteristic of SynRM using DOE by Taguchi optimization method. The design of experiments optimization method by Taguchi was successfully used and implemented for the optimization of the SynRM rotor geometry in order to improve its static torque characteristic. Based on the obtained results the guidelines are proposed for smoothing the static torque characteristic by selecting the appropriate rotor geometry, which may in turn significantly contribute to the reduction of the torque ripple of SynRM.
