Abstract: This paper deals with the use of a vector Jiles-Atherton hysteresis static model introduced in the solving of a 2D time-domain finite element calculation. To ensure convergence, a Newton-Raphson algorithm is used with a relaxation procedure. The model is applied to simulate the transient operation of a fast-acting electromechanical actuator, accounting for remanence in the ferromagnetic parts. The impact of static hysteresis and eddy currents is investigated.
