Abstract: This paper evaluates a permanent magnet variable flux motor that uses centrifugal forces to change its torque constant. As the rotation speed increases, the displacement angle between the separate rotors also automatically increases. The effectiveness of the motor is verified by 3-D finite element analysis and measurements on a prototype. These results show a good agreement with each other. From these, it is verified that the motor can change the characteristics automatically.
