Abstract: About 3000 licensed users spend from one to six hours a day working with Lotus Notes at the Housing Development Board (HDB) in Singapore. This paper describes major applications developed during the first two years of Notes implementation. As one of the largest users of Notes, HDB developed hundreds of database applications at its 17 departments and 19 branch offices. The system which showed a high rate of return on investment changed the corporate culture and the manner in which work is done. This case describes the use of Notes and the lessons learned as viewed by both Notes builders and users. It attempts to provide a comprehensive description of Notes' databases implementation in a large organization.
