Abstract: With the growing recognition of the potentials of web 2.0 tools, a lot of academic libraries are adopting the technologies and investing heavily in training programs for their staff in order to improve their operations. This study investigated the use of web 2.0 tools and services by the library professionals in Lagos State tertiary institution libraries. Review of the literature was carried out on the availability of use, purpose of use, extent of use, and competency level required for the use of web 2.0 tools in tertiary institution libraries in Lagos State, Nigeria. Challenges and solutions were also proffered. The …findings revealed that web 2.0 tools have great potentials for library service provision although they are a relatively new concept. The uses of web 2.0 tools were mostly for communication, research, collaboration, and leisure purposes; however, the extent of the use for service delivery was about average. This indicated that web tools were not sufficiently and efficiently used. Findings also revealed that the respondent librarian in the study area possessed a moderate level required skill needed in web-based technology environment. However, there is need to address certain limiting factors, such as technical hitches like unstable internet access, erratic power supply, and restrictive institutional policies, in order to take full advantage of web 2.0 tools for providing innovative library services and drawing patrons to the library. Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that library managers in the study area should be provided with uninterrupted electricity power supply to overcome the erratic power situation experienced now, periodic training and re-training programs should be provided to librarians, this in effect will equip librarians with the necessary skill, and policies should be formulated that will guide the conduct and usage of web 2.0 tools for implementation. Abstract: The article provides a quantitative and qualitative description of machine learning research in India using measures such as growth rate, global publication share, national-level share of international collaborative papers, citations per paper, and highly cited papers. The data for the study was sourced from Scopus database covering 12-year period 2006–17. The study finds that the United States is the world leader in the machine learning research, followed by China, United Kingdom, Germany, and India. India registered 52.46% annual growth in the subject, more than twice that of the world (22.03%). India’s citation impact was 5.34 citations per paper and its …national share of highly cited papers was 0.68% (27 papers). The leading Indian research organizations in machine learning research include Vellore Institute of Technology, Anna University, Chennai, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, Indian Institute of Science (IIS), Bangalore, and so on. The top 15 journals that accounted for 31.46% of India’s output include International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics (with 82 papers), International Journal of Applied Engineering Research (77 papers), Journal of Machine Learning Research (46 papers), Neurocomputing (44 papers), and so on. Abstract: The present paper describes the importance and usage of metadata tagging and prediction modeling tools for researchers and librarians. 387 articles were downloaded from DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) for the period 2008–17. This study was divided into two phases. The first phase determined the core topics from the research articles using Topic-Modeling-Toolkit (TMT), which was based on latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA), whereas the second phase employed prediction analysis using RapidMiner toolbox to annotate the future research articles on the basis of the modeled topics. The core topics (tags) were found to be digital libraries, information literacy, …scientometrics, open access, and library resources for the studied period. This study further annotated the scientific articles according to the modeled topics to provide a better searching experience to its users. Sugimoto, Li, Russell, et al . (2011), Figuerola, Marco, and Pinto (2017), and Lamba and Madhusudhan (2018) have performed studies similar to the present paper but with major modifications. Show more

Abstract: Generally resource discovery services are available on web environment. Discovery library service is a part of the online searching tool for access of the information resources for both local and global library users. Most of the libraries have been using the discovery services instead of online public access catalogue for wider access of metadata and full text. The essential features of discovery services include ranking algorithm, facets of different fields (authors, formats, main topics), Google like search box, enhanced search capability (fuzzy searching and concept searching), linking of the full-text content, customizing facilities for library, single window based interface for …sign on databases, integration with social sites, and sharing the bibliographic information among users. This paper discusses the application of discovery tools in integrated library management and retrieval system for libraries. In this research paper, the matured level open source discovery tool is selected for the import of Koha bibliographic data into the VuFind discovery tool and all the data can be easily accessed by both users and advanced users. VuFind support many open source library management software and it also supports the digital library related software. The main outcome of this research paper are: (i) bibliographic data of Koha display in VuFind, (ii) easy access of the data and bibliographic information by users, (iii) display of Emerald records of different items in VuFind, and (iv) advanced level search facilities.
