Abstract: The purpose of the study, discussed in this article, was to evaluate the acceptance and adoption of open access (OA) publications amongst the scholarly community of Mizoram University, north–east, India Central University. The data was retrieved by exporting directly from the Scopus database in comma-separated values (CSV) file format while undergoing certain filters. The extracted files were collaborated and evaluated in Excel file and eventually interpreted in various tables and illustrations; using VOS viewer to display collaboration network. Total 1233 scholarly publications had been extracted from the Scopus database during 2011 to 2020 where only 302 publications were open access. The Department of Biotechnology, School of Life Sciences had the highest number of open access publications from the University. It is worth mentioning that the numbers of open access publications have gradually been increasing in early 2020 as compared to the starting years of the undertaken time period. Besides the impact of the open access publications has stood out through average citations per publication (ACPP) variation but still, there is a large scope for improvement. The study was limited to scholarly publications of the scholars and faculties of Mizoram University and only those publications were considered for this study that had been indexed in the Scopus database. Concept of open access is vigorously accepted by the publishers and researchers in each and every field across the world. Therefore, it is important to highlight and compare the scholarly publications to know if Mizoram University is following the global trends in scholarly research. This paper also discloses the concept of open access and also its evolving adoption through information and communication technology, thereby benefiting both authors and information seekers to find relevant information for further study.
