Abstract: The study discussed in this article attempts to trace the research trends in information and communication technology (ICT) in top 10 countries during 1999–2018, as reflected by scholarly publications index in the Scopus database. During the mentioned time period, total 18,382 research papers were published. Of these, maximum 1622 (8.82%) records were published in 2017. The annual growth (–11.07 to 51.30) and the compound annual growth (–0.01 to 0.23) have shown a fluctuating trend. However, a considerable number of records (7345) were published in the field of computer science while 52.35% of the records (9623) were journal article-type publications. ‘Information …and communication technology’ was the most significant keyword used in 4997 records while the average (145.3) publications were contributed by top 10 organizations in which Japan National Institute of Information and Communications Technology was the most productive organization with 256 records. The maximum contributing country was the United States, standing for 22% of the total publications produced. Toyoshima, M. is the most prolific author with 53 publications on a particular topic, that is, ICT. The overall relative growth has shown a decreasing trend (0.92 to 0.09) while during the period of study, the doubling time has shown an increasing trend (0.75 to 7.54). Out of the total 18,382 records, total 209,919 citations were recorded in which the maximum citations (20,548) were found in 2010. Out of the total 55,913 research papers, maximum (5058) records were contributed by two authors while the least number of publications (2186) came from four authors. The mean value of the degree of collaborations was 0.92 and the overall degree of collaboration has exhibited an increasing trend during the period of study. The average author’s collaboration coefficient and modified collaboration coefficient was recorded to be 0.69 while collaborative index was recorded at 4.21. However, Lotka’s law of authors’ productivity shows, the authors observed are somehow unlike from the numbers of authors expected during the period of study. Show more

Abstract: The article discusses a webometric study, carried out on websites of 51 Indian agriculture and horticulture universities. The aim of the study was to rank these 51 websites on the ground of their web impact factor (WIF). The study was conducted using eight Boolean search statement methods and Google Search Engine to collect data from each university website. The major assessment criteria applied for this study were WIF, rich files, Google Scholar data, WISER (web indicators for scientific, technological, and innovation research) value, and Alexa Traffic Ranking. In terms of WIF, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, …was ranked first, followed by Dr Balasaheb Sawant Kokan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, and third position was secured by Rani Laxmi Bai Central Agricultural University, Jhansi. The Central Agriculture University, Imphal was adjudged first in the number of rich files. The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, ranked first in the light of Alexa Traffic Ranking. Central Agricultural University, Imphal with a WISER index value of 19.75358, scored first in WISER ranking, whereas Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science and Technology, Jammu was the at the 20th position, with a WISER value of 11.46. Abstract: The study discussed in the present article was aimed to explore the reading habits of undergraduate students in the disciplines of social sciences, sciences, and humanities of Kirori Mal College, Ramanujan College, and Maharaja Agrasen College of University of Delhi, respectively. Reading habits include the preferred language, purpose of reading, frequency of reading, preferences for fiction and non-fiction, format preference for reading document media, preferred devices and location for reading. It also takes into account the total number of books read in a year. The study investigated the use of various social media platforms by the students of different subjects …for reading and other related activities. Questionnaire—as a tool—was used for collecting the data from the sample of 384 undergraduate students belonging to different subjects. Different variable sets related to the reading habits were analysed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Brown-Forsythe and Welch test, weighted mean and percentage. The results reveal that majority of undergraduate students preferred reading in English language except the students of Hindi subject. However, few students showed mix interest for both English and Hindi languages. They read information sources mainly to gain knowledge, followed by academic purpose and for improving comprehension. Majority of students made use of WhatsApp, followed by Wikipedia (96.1%), video-sharing sites (95.1%), social networking sites (86.3%) and social Q&A sites (80.7%) for carrying out activities related to academics. Abstract: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) is the largest medical institute under State Legislature Act in Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The study discussed in this article is a bibliometric assessment of scientific research output of SKIMS Deemed University during 1989–2019. The study also analysed the year-wise research output, authorship pattern, subject wise, document type, collaborative countries and institutes, top journal of publications, prolific authors, and highly cited articles from SKIMS. Publication data of 31 years of the medical university indicate that total 154 papers were published from 1989 to 2019, receiving 753 citations, with h-index (the value …of h is such that the given journal/author has published at least h papers, cited at least h times.) as 14, as per the Web of Science (WoS) database. The study reveals that the year 2010 was the most productive in terms of research output, with 24 papers published. This was followed by 2011 and 2009, with 16 and 15 publications, respectively. However, the study also reveals that some years, for instance, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2005 did not witness a noteworthy publication of research articles. The SKIMS’ faculty members worked as a team where of the total publications, 66.88% were four-authored publications and only 9.09% were written by single author. Majority of research publications were published in the subject areas like surgery (22.72%), pediatrics (18.18%), and oncology (12.98%). The faculty of SKIMS published their research papers mainly in the form of journal articles (55.19%) which consist of total 154 publications, followed by the meeting abstracts (21.42%), and editorial material (10.38%) publications. These scholarly publications are authored by some of the most prolific authors such as Choh, N.A. with 9.09%, followed by Bhat, M. A. and Choh, S.A. (each contributing 6.49% to the published material). The SKIMS’ faculty worked in collaboration with many countries, for example, USA, contributing 2.59%, Australia, Bangladesh, and Finland, each country contributed 1.29%, to the total publications. Individual contribution of countries such as Bahrain, Belarus, Brazil, Brunei and Bulgaria was 0.69% to the total publications’ share. The SKIMS’ researchers/doctors worked with top collaborating institutions which mainly include University of Kashmir, Government Medical College, and All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. Foreign journals were the most preferred platform for researchers to communicate their research work, for instance, International Journal of Surgery (6.49%), Neurosurgery Quarterly (4.54%), and Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology Metabolism (3.89%). Abstract: Moving forward to the era of media and information convergence has extremely affected Thai society and youths. Therefore, learning to build media and information literacy skills has been realized as a basis of transferring knowledge bodies to youths, to be applied for media and information selection. The process of learning to build media and information literacy skills consists of thinking while reading (step of building awareness and problem realization), problem searching (step of survey for a problem mainly caused by media and information), planning for development (step of development of a learning plan on media and information literacy), and practice …on building of literacy (step of practising in building media and information literacy, making conclusion and public suggestion. This article presents meanings of media and information literacy, the learning process to build media and information literacy skills, factors, and indicators of media and information literacy in order to apply the received concepts and theories with learning to build media and information literacy skills of learners.
