Abstract: The research discussed in the present article deals with the current scenario of automation activities of Government First Grade College (GFGC) Libraries of Karnataka. The findings of this research study include the different issues of colleges and its libraries, principally including automation software, IT infrastructure, barriers of library automation, need for automation training, and others. Further, this study also surveyed the subscription of INFLIBNET N-LIST. The findings of this study will be helpful to frame a policy for the uniform implementation of the library automation project across the entire academic libraries of Karnataka. The study is limited to the GFGC Libraries of Karnataka and cannot be generalized across all the academic libraries of Karnataka. The Google Form was designed to collect the required data to attain the framed objectives of the study. The data was later exported to Excel and were tabulated, analysed, and interpreted. This article is entirely based on the research and the findings will be helpful for the administrators of the Department of the Collegiate Education, researchers, and the faculties of the Department.
