Abstract: Although the 1980s were to be the era of longitudinal analysis little geographic research has taken advantage of longitudinal data. One reason is because geographers require data-sets which contain both information on residential histories and information which is geographically representative. The National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY) meets both requirements and can support important geographic research.
