Communication and Technology: An Overview of a Paediatric Cochlear Implant Programme

Abstract: This paper provides an overview of the Nottingham Paediatrics Cochlear Implant Programme (NPCIP) from the perspective of a speech and language therapist. Core selection criteria used by the NPCIP are discussed in the light of international implant candidacy trends. Factors influencing the selection of speech and language assessment measures are outlined and procedures for monitoring change are discussed.
