Abstract: Two new semiexplicit algorithms for the coupled soil-pore fluid problem are developed in this article. The stability of the new algorithms is much better than that of the previous algorithm. The first new scheme (H*-scheme) based on operator splitting before spatial discretization can avoid the restriction of mixed formulation in the incompressible (zero permeability) limit. The steady-state formulation is discussed to verify this argument. Several examples illustrate the article.
