Abstract: Neonatal seizures are common and frequently indicate significant
underlying brain abnormality. The epidemiology of neonatal seizures has been
evaluated in several population and hospital-based studies and these
investigations have lead to identification of important maternal, intrapartum
and infant risk factors. Identifying and avoiding risks factors for neonatal
seizures may lead to lower infant neurological morbidity and mortality.
