Abstract: The use of medium to long wavelength neutron diffraction for the study of large unit cells to near atomic resolution using quasi-Laue techniques is a good way of increasing measurement capacity in neutron protein crystallography, but requires a large detector area. A cylindrical detector based on image plate technology has been constructed for this purpose, and basic design criteria together with some first results are reported.
