Abstract: Neutron spin echo (NSE) is the method which can achieve the highest energy resolution in quasielastic neutron scattering. It is now well established at different steady state neutron sources. It appears that the next generation neutron sources will all be of pulsed spallation type. IN15, the high resolution NSE at the ILL in Grenoble, has a chopper system to work in Time of Flight mode and has demonstrated the technical feasibility and tested the possible advantages of operating in this mode. In soft matter and biological studies, in the great majority of cases, the samples have some characteristics which happen to be very favorable for TOF–NSE and this is what we will try to demonstrate.
