Abstract: In his paper, a bi-objective balancing model for U-shaped mixed-model assembly lines to minimize total costs as well as the workload of stations, considering zoning constraints and task duplications is presented. In order the uncertain nature of the input data (i.e. monetary and time data), an interactive fuzzy possibilistic programming approach has been applied, and the bi-objective nature of the presented model is treated via an efficient multi-criteria decision analysis-DEA based approach. Finally, applicability of the presented model and its effectiveness is tested on a real industrial case study.
