Abstract: To resolve the problem of excessive memory consumption when the large image is read into memory in the practical application, This paper proposed a segmentation method based on JPEG file stream. Firstly, according to the format of the JPEG file stream, the size of the large image and the ratio of the large image's sampling factors are acquired. Secondly, we can determine the number of sub-block image according to the size of the large image and the size of MCU. Finally, the large image is read into memory successfully. Experimental results show that the method has a better performance in time and space consumption, and could effectively enhance the rate of segmentation image.
