Abstract: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMES) in China, especially knowledge-based enterprise is one of the main forces for realizing knowledge innovation and changing industrial structure, and creation, utilization and appreciation of the knowledge ultimately depend on knowledge staffs which are the carrier of knowledge to achieve. In this paper, the traditional salary model of SMES is analyzed with empirical analysis method, the traditional salary model cannot meet the salary demands of knowledge staffs, we propose a salary system that matches the demand characteristics of knowledge staffs, and there is a positive discussion how to effectively motivate the knowledge staffs.
