Abstract: Mobile Computing - the support of mobility and the access to information and services at the same time - offers new possibilities for distributed applications. In addition to information anywhere - anytime, the knowledge about the current location of a user or a service can be used to provide new functionality. In this paper, we describe some of the characteristics of mobile computing, present a system model and show in some detail how one of the features of mobile computing - service mobility - can be realized.
