Abstract: This paper describes one aspect of collaborative professional development in the design and delivery of a course of instruction for librarians on the applications, tools, and potential for research on the Internet. Using computer-mediated communication technologies in a networked learning environment, the authors (a university librarian and a university systems analyst) collaborated across campus and departmental lines to create and deliver the course, first as a distribution listserv over the Internet and then as a resource page on the World Wide Web. In this paper, the authors discuss the need for such efforts, share their experience as collaborators, assess the strengths and weaknesses inherent in their approach, and offer advice to those interested in developing similar programs or in adapting this program to their own purposes.
