Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The Journal Advances in Neuroimmune Biology wishes to publish a Special Issue on the topic of “Neuroimmunoendocrinology: a new perspective on disease prevention and treatment”.

As Co-Editor in Chief of the journal, I will Guest Edit this Special Issue and based on your previous work and expertise of the subject, I would like to invite you, and would be delighted if you accept, to submit a review paper on the topic of your expertise.

In recent years, interest has grown regarding the interactions of an organism’s systems that regulate its homeostasis. These interactions have currently been solidly documented, and they include the nervous, endocrine and immunological systems. Interactions are bidirectional and several substances are known to be produced by the three systems and to act at target cell level through specific receptors, which are frequently common in different cell-types. Among these soluble substances, for instance, the endocrine system secretes classic hormones and neuropeptides (sex steroids, adrenal steroids, prolactin, growth hormone, vasopressin, oxytocin), which act on immunological cells, either stimulating or inhibiting specific functions. The immune system produces cytokines and chemokines, soluble products generated by an array of immune cells. These, in turn, can modify neuroendocrine functions as a result of their autocrine, paracrine or endocrine actions on different cell types of neuroendocrine glands. When a dysregulation in this communication in the network ocurrs, disease may arise. Thus, the study of disease and its treatments has to be considered from this integrative perspective.

The main objective of this Special Issue is to highlight the recent progress on the field of Neuroendocrineimmune interaction during diseases and the efficiency of treatments using this network focus. Your contribution is most important in carrying out this message.

Submission information and formats for Advances in Neuroimmune Biology can be found at http://www.iospress.nl/journal/advances-in-neuroimmune-biology/under Manuscript Submission.

Authors should state in their cover letter that their invited article is submitted for the Special Issue “Neuroimmunoendocrinology: a new perspective on disease prevention and treatment”. In order to peer-review and publish the Special Issue as quickly as possible, the fixed deadline for your chapter contribution is “October 31, 2017”. Three to five possible reviewers can be suggested in the cover letter. We are targeting the publication of the Special Issue for 2017 if possible.

I hope you will consider participating in this project, and look forward to hearing from you. Your contribution will help to our Journal to move forward and gain attention, thus, receiving more citations.

Manuscript Submission: October 31

Publication: Early 2018

With best wishes,

Dr. Jorge Morales Montor
