Abstract: In the previous paper, based on the big data of gathered crack image and load-deformation relationship of laboratory experiments, the bending-shearing critical crack method (BSCCM) has been developed to give the mechanical explanation of the punching shear phenomenon in interior slab-column connections without shear reinforcement and the analytical method could analysis the punching shear strength and deformation capacity simultaneously. Based on the big data of the gathered experiments, this paper firstly validates the accuracy of the BSCCM for the standard specimen with 45 tests data, and secondly deduces the equivalent transformation formulas for non-standard specimen through the yield line theory …and verifies the applicability of the BSCCM for the non-standard specimens with 98 tests data. And on this basis, through data mining and factor analysis, this paper studies the factors that affecting the punching shear strength and deformation and proposes the simplified calculation formulas for engineering practice. At last, this paper fully validates the reasonability and accuracy of the formulas with 432 tests data. Results show that the BSCCM is applied to the calculation of punching shear strength and deformation for both standard and non-standard specimens. The simplified formulas which considered concrete strength, yield strength of steel/bar, reinforcement ratio, punching span ratio and perimeter thickness ratio of critical section can accurately and rapidly predict the punching shear strength and deformation of the slab-column connection. The conclusion can be available for engineering application and be used as the basis of the performance design of RC flat plate structure. Show more

Abstract: Data mining and soft computing techniques have been widely used in Jiles-Atherton (J-A) hysteresis model parameters identification for ferromagnetic materials or ferromagnetic composites. However, the model cannot be applied to magnetostrictive composites (MSC). That is because not only the nonmagnetic matrix will change the magnetic field distribution in the composites, but also the magnetostriction will be affected by the fabrication procedure. In order to realize the pre-estimation of the magnetostrictive composites magnetic properties, we present a new prediction method. This method is based on modified J-A hysteresis model, utilizing data mining technique to identify model parameters from the raw measured …data of magnetostrictive alloy. A methodology including-experimental determination, MJA model, parameters identification by differential evaluation algorithm, is discussed in detail. Then, the experimental data of magnetostrictive composites are compared to the simulations. The theoretical model agrees with the measurement results very well. Our study provides a reference for the performance evaluation of magnetostrictive composites before the preparation process. Show more

Abstract: This paper focuses on the theoretical method which could analysis the punching shear strength and deformation capacity. Based on the crack image and load-deformation relationship of laboratory experiments and big data mining of gathered database, the bending-shearing critical crack method (BSCCM) is developed to give the mechanical explanation of punching shear phenomenon in interior slab-column connections without shear reinforcement. According to the tests, the BSCCM assumes that the punching shear force is resisted mainly by the shearing-compression zone of the critical crack section and requires the knowledge of the demand curve and capacity curve of load-deformation relationship of the critical …crack, the intersection between the two curves are the punching shear strength and deformation capacity. The capacity curve is defined by layer model of shearing-compression zone based on the biaxial strength theory of concrete. The demand curve is defined by equilibrium of forces in slab sector. The BSCCM also includes flexure-shear crack propagation mechanism, an assumed curvature distribution and the judgment method of critical crack. For engineering practice, two modification factors involving in the size effect and dowel action are also introduced. In the last, an overall process and the global flow chart are demonstrated for illustrating the BSCCM. Show more

Abstract: With the continuous expansion of aircraft flying envelope and the extensive application of new structural materials, the flexibility of the aircraft increases. Under the actual flight conditions, the elastic vehicle will be elastically deformed under aerodynamic force which will produce elastic vibration. In addition to the rigid body movement of the inertia vehicle, the inertial measurement element of the control system will introduce the structural elastic vibration noise into the control system. Under certain unfavorable conditions, the control system will increase the amplitude of the vibration, resulting in the final destruction of the structure of the aircraft. In the engineering …application, the elastic noise in the control signal is generally suppressed by the structural notch filter. However, when the structural bending frequency is low and the bandwidth is close to the control system, the suppression effect of the structural notch filter to the elastic noise will be reduced. By combining the fuzzy sliding mode control method with the classical attitude control structure, the longitudinal attitude controller is designed for the static unstable elastic aircraft, and the equilibrium state of the system at the origin is proved to be consistent and stable by using the Lyapunov stability analysis method. The time-domain response characteristics of the designed controller and the stability of the program signal under disturbing conditions are verified by the fixed-point simulation. The simulation results show the effectiveness and robustness of the controller. Show more

Abstract: In this work a UPFC based novel optimal fuzzy PID controller is proposed whose gains are optimized by PSO-GWO algorithm considering integral of time weighted absolute error. The proposed controller has been employed to damp low frequency oscillations in power system considering wide range of operating conditions like change in input mechanical power, line loading, change in line reactance with single and multi machine power system. The fuzzy optimized PID controller has been compared with normal optimized PID controller with same optimization techniques to justify its effectiveness. Also the supremacy of PSO-GWO technique has been compared with PSO and GWO …techniques by optimizing the gains of fuzzy PID controller. The detailed eigen value analysis and system response prove that proposed fuzzy PID controller is much superior than PID controller and PSO-GWO optimized controller is also superior as compared to PSO and GWO optimized fuzzy PID controllers to damp low frequency oscillations in power system and there by enhancing small signal stability of power system. Abstract: Opinion leaders are those users who have great influence in social networks. It is significant to detect opinion leaders for the study on social networks and other applications. According to the key idea of the PageRank algorithm, a novel algorithm called HybridRank is proposed, taking into account topic-sensitive analysis and temporal characteristics. Our two major contributions are twofold: (1) topic-sensitive analysis is conducted to obtain the clusters in social networks; (2) temporal analysis is proposed to investigate the dynamics of the user’s influence over the time. We also provide impressive experimental analysis on a real dataset grabbed from Chinese Sina …BBS, showing that the proposed HybridRank Algorithm outperforms various related approaches. Show more

Abstract: Solenoid valves (SVs) are used as actuators in various applications, which are crucial parts in control system. Their failure may result in a system crash, so its health condition and reliability are related to the safety of an engineering system. In order to explore the basis of condition-based maintenance or replacement of SVs, it is necessary to develop a prognostic approach to predict its operation condition and remaining useful life (RUL). In this paper, a particle filter (PF) technique, an online tracking method, is proposed to make prognostics for SV. Moreover, the Brownian motion degradation model is proposed, and …the distortion of dynamic driven current curve is assumed as the indicator of degradation state. To validate the proposed PF-based prognostics method, a degradation experiment is designed. The result shows that the predicted degradation state accurately reflects the real time filtered degradation state of SV and a good RUL prediction can be calculated by this method. Show more

Abstract: In recent years, the frequent appearance of obstacles on roads has been increasing. Opportune obstacle detection is crucial in driver-assistance systems to prevent traffic incidents. Artificial vision has been used to design advanced driver-assistance systems. Driver-assistance allows avoiding collisions or (mortal) accidents by offering technologies that alert the driver about potential problems. Opportune obstacle detection is an open problem in a dynamic environment; therefore, it is necessary to identify static objects and moving objects, known as obstacles, while driving a vehicle. The object identification process is mainly affected by light conditions. In this paper, we present an on-road obstacle detection …system based on video analysis. The system extracts areas of interest from a video scene by using a rectangular window of observation and carrying out a sample analysis to separate the road from possible obstacles and the horizon, which is known as the segmentation process. Besides, the system calculates the obstacle trajectory by using monocular vision and an extended Kalman filter. The mechanism has been tested under several surface and lighting conditions, showing a significant improvement in terms of robustness to real world driving conditions, as compared to other state of the art methods, which are designed to work in controlled environments.
