Abstract: Different functions for quantifying the degree of similarity between two fuzzy numbers have been proposed in the literature on the basis of various descriptive parameters, such as the geometric distance, the distance between the centers of gravity, the perimeters or the shared area between the fuzzy numbers. However, these similarity functions are not equally applicable across all situations. Consequently, comparative analyses have been performed on the basis of different sets of fuzzy number pairs. In this paper we thoroughly review the similarity functions proposed in the literature, identify their properties and possible drawbacks and compare them on the basis of …an extended set of fuzzy numbers. Abstract: This paper proposes a sufficient stochastic framework to assess the influence of charging demand of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) on the operation of renewable micro-grids (MGs). In this regard, an intelligent charging approach is proposed to shift the charging demand of PHEVs to off-peak load hours. In order to reduce the total cost of the MG, battery as the storage device is incorporated in the MG. Since the problem investigated is a hard complicated optimization problem, a new optimization method called Modified Clonal Selection algorithm (MCSA) is utilized too. The proposed MCSA employs two modification techniques to improve the …position of antibodies in the face of local optima. For modeling the uncertainty of parameters, 2m-point estimate method (2m-PEM) is utilized as the stochastic framework. The feasibility and appropriate performance of the proposed method are examined on a standard MG. Show more

Abstract: In some practical situations the decision maker is interested in setting multi aspiration levels for objectives that may not be expressed in a specific manner. So in this paper, Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy transportation problem with multi-item, multi-objective function assuming multiple choices is considered. We have modeled multi-objective multi-choice multi-item Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy transportation problem (MMMIFTP), and its several special cases. Possibility, necessity and credibility measures for Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy numbers for the first time have been developed here. Solution methodology of those models using chance operator has been discussed. A real life example is presented to illustrate proposed models numerically …and the results are compared. The optimal results are obtained by using three different soft computing techniques (i) Interactive satisfied method, (ii) Global criteria method and (iii) Goal programming method. Show more

Abstract: Uncertainty measures can supply new points of view for analyzing data and help us to disclose the substantive characteristics of data sets. Accuracy and roughness proposed by Pawlak are mainly two important measures to deal with uncertainty information in rough set theory. However, these measures are constructed by set operations, which bring about poor efficiency. In this paper, we proposed a binary granule representation by a conversion from a set to a binary granule. Correspondingly, set operations are converted to binary granule computing. Besides, we investigate how to understand measures from rough set framework in the viewpoint of binary granule …representation by introducing Hamming distance between granules. Moreover, a concept of granule swarm distance is defined for measuring uncertainty between two granule swarms, which provides a more comprehensible perspective for measures in rough set theory. Theoretical analysis shows that the binary granule representation is valuable to understand rough set measures. Show more

Abstract: Abilities of fuzzy models in more adaptations with the real world phenomena causes that in this paper, we remodel semi-infinite linear programming problems as fuzzy problems which contained the crisp objective function and the infinite number of fuzzy constraints. Then, we introduce a new hybrid solution method for these fuzzy semi-infinite linear programming problems. This solution technique is a kind of cutting plane algorithm in which its sub-problems were solved by using the Zimmermann-method. Convergence of the presented algorithm is proved, and some numerical test examples are given and also the obtained results are compared.

Abstract: Complex event processing (CEP) is a promising technology, which can evaluate the business logic from a large number of continuous real-time data streams. There are a few issues that are still remaining, such as linearization of processing realization mode and event pattern description, which would severely affect the detection efficiency of CEP. This paper proposes a CEP system that can efficiently share the associated event pattern and simultaneously process multiple event sources. First, an event presentation model and a complete set of event operators are summarized, on which a multi event pattern specification language with parallel output capability is proposed. …Then, an extended colored Petri-net (CEP-PNm) is defined, which can effectively realize the proposed language and share the same nodes between event patterns in a variety of connection types. At last, by comparison with the traditional CEP system, a parallel processing system called PM-CEPs is introduced. The experimental results show that PM-CEPs can improve complex event processing performance horizontally and vertically through event pattern share and parallel processing. Show more

Abstract: In this paper, we first introduce two kinds of aggregation tools: fuzzy Choquet integrals, one is the fuzzy Choquet integral of fuzzy-valued functions with respect to fuzzy measure, the another is the fuzzy Choquet integral of real-valued functions with respect to fuzzy-valued fuzzy measure. Then using the nonadditive crisp/fuzzy set function to describe the interaction among attributes, two kinds of new fuzzy nonlinear multiregression are established based on fuzzy Choquet integrals, it can catch the interaction among the predictive attributes toward the objective attribute, Such models are generalizations of the traditional fuzzy linear multiregression.

Abstract: Amongst all cancerous diseases, lung cancer is the most fatal disease, if it is not detected at initial stage. Lots of image processing techniques have been used for its detection but still there is room for improvement. In this paper a novel region based ACM with Otsu preprocessing technique is proposed for the segmentation phase of the lung nodule detection. From segmented images features are extracted and for classification SVM classifier is used. We have used the dataset of 12 images taken from LIDC. The proposed technique provides very proficient results. For comparative analysis we have also tested it with …other different segmentation techniques. It is evaluated that proposed techniques has several advantages over the others. It can efficiently detect the boundaries of lung part from images, irrespective of contour initial position. It takes less computation time and no of iterations than others. Moreover it can also detect weak and blur boundary in images. Experimental analysis on the lung images reveals the advantages of the proposed technique over geodesic active contours (GAC), Chan–Vese (C–V) active contours, simple ACM and DRLSE in terms of both effectiveness and accuracy. With this view, the present study will facilitate the radiologist as well as the physicians. Show more

Abstract: Various models which are based on fuzzy systems have been successfully used in many application areas including but not limited to forecasting, optimization, clustering, and modeling. An important issue is to evaluate the performance of these models. In general, a performance measure is calculated based on the difference between the defuzzified output values and corresponding desired values. Although fuzzy inference is performed over fuzzy sets or numbers, performance measure is calculated over numerical values in the literature. Thus, the membership values are ignored. We suggest that a performance measure which takes membership values into account would be a better criterion. …In this study, a novel membership value based performance measure which takes membership values into consideration is proposed to evaluate models based on fuzzy systems. Abstract: In this paper we consider the notion of Fuzzy Lattices, which was introduced by Chon (Korean J. Math 17 (2009), No. 4, 361-374). We propose some new notions for Fuzzy Ideals and Filters and provide a characterization of Fuzzy Ideals via α-level Sets and Support. Some types of ideals and filters, such as: Fuzzy Principal Ideals (Filters), Proper Fuzzy Ideals (Filters), Prime Fuzzy Ideals (Filters) and Fuzzy Maximal Ideals (Filters) are also provided. Some properties (analogous to the classical theory) are also proved and the notion of Homomorphism from fuzzy lattices as well as the demonstration of some important propositions …about it are also provided.
