Abstract: This paper proposes an emotion recognition system using the electroencephalographic (EEG) signals. Both time domain and frequency domain approaches for feature extraction were evaluated using neural network (NN) and fuzzy neural network (FNN) as classifiers. Data was collected using psychological stimulation experiments. Three basic emotions namely; Angry, Happy, and Sad were selected for recognition with relax as an emotionless state. Both the time domain (based on statistical method) and frequency domain (based on MFCC) approaches shows potential to be used for emotion recognition using the EEG signals.

Abstract: Virtual reconstruction of large landscapes from satellite imagery can be a time-consuming task due to the number of objects that must be extracted. Poor image resolution and noise hinder automatic detection processes and thus must be corrected by the user. This paper describes an application that allows the user to guide the automatic detection of trees from satellite imagery and spatial vegetation data. The requirements of the system are specified and an architecture that satisfies these constraints is presented. The resulting application provides an intuitive computer-aided method for the selection and classification of trees.

Abstract: As the number of powerful mobile devices with wireless connections rapidly increases, the demand for mobile services and database data in mobile settings has increased. This has given rise to a need for engineering database architectures that are suitable for such dynamic environments and also has given rise to the challenges of the service discovery techniques for MANET and has created opportunities for many new mobile applications. The most important thing is to allow mobile users to exchange data and use each other's services. Therefore, there are needs for data communication protocol and service discovery protocol. These are great challenges …for MANET. The goal of this paper is to provide basic roles of MANET (allowing mobile users to exchange data and use each other's services), and get over the need for data communication protocol and service discovery protocol. In this paper we propose a framework which combines a data communication protocol that supports all three modes of MANET data communication and allows mobile applications to view these separate non-identical databases as one integrated database with a service discovery protocol that is directory-based. Abstract: The stability of a class in object-oriented system is one software quality characteristic that is important to assess at the early development stages. However, a direct measure of this software quality characteristic is not possible. Nonetheless, it can be predicted based on other measurable software attributes such as cohesion, coupling, and complexity. Many metrics have been proposed to assess these software attributes and for this purpose, prediction models have been widely used. However, in almost all cases, these models were not efficient when used to predict the quality characteristics (stability or other) of new unseen software as their prediction accuracy …decreases significantly. In this paper, we present a heuristic approach that relies on the adaptation and recombination of already built predictive models to new unseen software.The predictive models are all rule-based models and the approach is tested on the stability of classes in an object-oriented software system. We compare our results to the machine learning algorithm C4.5, and we show that our approach out-beats it. Show more

Abstract: With increasing connectivity between computers, the security of computer networks plays a strategic role in modern computer systems. In order to enforce high protection levels against threats, a number of software systems have been currently developed. Intrusion detection systems (IDS) have become an essential component at detecting intruders. In this paper, an ensemble approach to network intrusion detection based on the fusion of multiple classifiers is proposed. A computational machine is built to derive optimal parsimonious hybrid model of classifiers in intrusion detection based on the following classification methods, Naïve Bayes, Support Vector Machine, K-nearest neighbor, and Neural networks. The …weighted voting fusion strategy for intrusion detection is assessed by experiments and its performances compared. The potentialities of classifiers fusion for the development of effective intrusion detection systems are evaluated and discussed. The experimental results indicate that hybrid approach effectively generates a more accurate intrusion detection model on detecting both normal usages and malicious activities. Abstract: Generally, different companies use distinct software development process. Due to it, OMG has specified an architecture to can define a software development process. This architecture uses a metamodel which is able to be abstracted from particular characteristics and to give the possibility of defining the different software development processes. The Software Process Engineering Metamodel (SPEM) is a metamodel used for describing a concrete software development process. Also, the OMG specify a standardized language to model business processes. This language is called Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN). In this paper, a formalization of transformations between SPEM and BPMN is …specified. The transformations are done using the language of formal specification RSL. One time that we obtain a BPMN specification, it is possible to generate XPDL code or BPEL code. The workflow technology can use this code and execute the process. It allows automate the business process, but in this case, the process is a software development process. Consider that workflow technologies automate, totally or partially, the business processes enabling an interaction between men and machines, under an established set of procedural rules. Such technologies use standard languages, like BPEL or XPDL, to specify the business process which is executed in a workflow engine. The BPMN allows to generate BPEL or XPDL codes. Therefore, if we specify a software development process using SPEM, we will automate this process using the workflow technology due to transformations between SPEM and BPMN done in this paper. Abstract: Research in text mining has recently gained a lot of importance due to the large increase in the number of electronic news articles, books, research papers, and e-mail messages. Clustering organizes text documents in an unsupervised fashion. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for clustering unstructured text documents using shape pattern matching. The Vector Space Model is used to represent our dataset as a term-weight matrix. The high dimensional vector space has been mapped to a two-dimensional plane that has the term weights plotted against a time axis. In this way, the text documents are represented in the form …of time sequences. Initially, the documents are broadly grouped into categories that are determined using domain knowledge. The relevant portion of the document vector is then clipped out. The shape patterns present in these clipped portions are observed. Indexing of these shape patterns is done by preparing their alphabet. Grouping documents within a category which share the same shape pattern results in the required clusters. Show more

Abstract: Steganography, the method to hide a message inside another message without drawing any suspicion to the others and that the message can only be detected by its intended recipient. Text documents have been widely used for a very long time. With the other steganography methods such as Image, Audio, Video, a number of text steganography algorithms have been introduced. This paper presents some new approaches for steganography in Hindi texts. Considering the structure of Hindi alphabet/words, in this approach, we hide the secret message in the text by shifting the subpart of some Hindi characters towards left or right, by …rotating the line within the main character of some Hindi characters, by shifting the rightmost vertical line of the parallel lines formed by combining the consonant with vowel, by adding more spaces between the subparts of medial vowel and by shifting the point of the medial vowel. Abstract: As the army continues to develop virtual systems for combative support missions, it needs to also develop representations of intelligent systems for its battlefield simulations. Military route planning is a challenging problem in many domains such as military mission planning, simulated war games, and battlefield simulations. The simulations have levels of complexity, abstraction, and scale. In this paper we discuss a framework for modeling intelligent systems in the context of a battlefield simulation tool. We apply this framework to model a battlefield simulation comprising of enemy outposts, minefields, barriers, and platoons of soldiers in a multi-agent system to aid commanders …in decision making strategies. The results shown in this paper could be used for decision making by commanders as they can visualize bottle-neck situations such as goal swapping for platoons, route planning, and strategy planning. Abstract: Ad-hoc on-demand networks have received a significant interest in the literature. Many routing schemes for such networks focus on finding an optimal path. In this paper, however, we consider the routing problem from the viewpoint of sustaining QoS (quality of service) requirement. Some algorithms such as MP-DSR already have considered this problem in terms of the end-to-end reliability requirement. While the Multi-Path Dynamic Source Routing (MP-DSR) algorithm is capable of resolving the issue to a certain extent, it only considers disjoint paths between a pair of source and destination nodes. In reality due to mobility of nodes there may not …exist such disjoint paths.
