Abstract: Climate change and Australian Government climate change strategies are expected to change the Australian economy, society, and environment. Business, industry, households and communities will be affected in one form or another. Remaining responsive to existing and emerging information needs of policy makers, academics and the community is a key objective of Australia's national statistical office, the Australian Bureau of Statistics. This paper discusses activities to ensure the robustness of existing statistics to new government policies and new information needs that are emerging in Australia.
