Abstract: This article presents procedures for hypothesis testing and interval estimation of the common scale parameter of several exponential populations. The procedures are based on the generalized variable method. The statistical properties of the proposed procedures are evaluated numerically and are compared with those of the existing procedures. An example is cited to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed generalized variable method over the large sample method.
