The article Real-time monitoring of physical education classroom in colleges and universities based on open IoT and cloud computing by Guo Jianbang and Sun Changxin, originally published in Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, vol. 40, no. 4, pp. 7397–7409, 2021 (DOI: 10.3233/JIFS-189563) has been retracted on the initiative of the authors. The authors provided the following statement: “Subsequent studies using the same data and algorithms yielded inconsistent results with our previous conclusions. Upon revalidating our prior research data and reviewing the code, significant issues were discovered, leading to misunderstandings and inaccurate descriptions of the model’s performance. Specifically, statistical analysis in Figure 8 indicated a mental health classification accuracy of only about 60% for students. Subsequent testing revealed that this level of accuracy does not meet the standards of an excellent model performance, rendering the model inadequate for detecting students’ mental health. Furthermore, Figure 9 showed considerable variability in the average classification accuracy of 69 students, indicating the model’s instability. Considering these factors, we believe our paper has significant flaws and cannot accurately assess the performance of the student mental health identification model. Therefore, we respectfully request the withdrawal of the manuscript and extend our sincere apologies.” The article was published as version of record on 12 April 2021 and retracted formally in December 2024. The publisher has updated the original online PDF with the word “RETRACTED” watermarked over every page of the article.
