Abstract: Based on the concept of environmental carrying capacity and airport capacity, in this paper we propose the concept of airport environment capacity (AEC). We calculated the maximum pollutant concentration in an airport by constructing a pollutant evaluation model, established the relationship between the pollutant concentration and the sorties of aircraft taking off and landing, and provided a method of determining the AEC. Using Shanghai Pudong International Airport as an example, we evaluated AEC according to the proposed evaluation method and process. The result showed that the evaluation method was correct and effective.
