Abstract: From the perspective of institutional theory, this research studies the impact of special economic zone policy on enterprise innovation performance. Using the data of China Stock Market & Accounting Research Database, this research adopts propensity score matching method and mediation effect model to conduct empirical research. The results show that the implementation of the special economic zone policy improves the corporate innovation performance in the region, and the special economic zone policy significantly promotes enterprise innovation through enterprise research and development investment. Therefore, the government should strengthen the effective implementation of special economic zone policy, enhance corporate innovation power, optimize innovation environment in the region, and promote the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure.
