Abstract: This paper discusses the role of inductive learning in the context of intelligent design support. It argues that inductive learning is an integral part of conceptual design process and that computer-based design systems can be enhanced by the integration of inductive learning techniques with other AI techniques. The paper presents an inductive learning model for design and demonstrates its application in a design concept learning system.
