Abstract: The concept of information processing as a business undertaking conforming to ordinary business constraints is presented. This proposition is positively supported by the analogous functions found in the petroleum industry, and models of Engineering Information sales patterns are presented against a variety of economic indicators. Finally, these relationships are weighed against national information policy considerations.
