Abstract: The reactions of lecturers in the Information Management Division at Queen's University, Belfast to the possibility of using computer conferencing as a means of facilitating student learning and other divisional activities is examined. Currently, computer conferencing is widely used to support distance learners, but its use in conventional higher education environments is much less widespread. University lecturers are now expected to deliver quality courses to more students. This small scale study indicates that lecturers initially would be willing to experiment with a computer conferencing system to support student learning and other activities despite some reservations.
