Multiple cerebral infarction associated with neuroleptic-induced lupus anticoagulant

Abstract: A 39 year old schizophrenic woman with a 20 year history of neuroleptic treatment suffered bilateral cerebral infarcts and coagulation studies revealed a lupus anticoagulant (LA). She highlights the poorly recognized risk of thrombosis in patients on neuroleptics who develop LA. In this case the LA may have been induced by long-term therapy with haloperidol, a novel and potentially important association.
